I have decided to use the narrative from my AS media coursework in my exam. I believe the narrative has more substance and I would be able to analyse it more because of the thought that went behind it.
We created the introduction to a thriller film and called it 'Delirium'. The plot was based around a young girl who's bestfriend had been murdered and she was the only one that realised who it could have killed her. Her Ex boyfriend. She then seeks revenge and goes out to kill him.
We decided to introduce the film with the ending so the story could be unfolded during the film. We started it at the point of 'Disequilibrium' a term that Todorov suggested as mid point in a film where the initial 'Equilibrium' is distrupted by an intervention from some other force. We thought this would make the content of the film more interesting as it would go back in time and show the journey of the characters 1 year before this stage.
We also used a voice over of a news report about two teenage deaths and the possibility of them being connected. This would make the readers interested as at this point the main protagonist is walking to a house disorientated and drunk, still mourning over the loss of her best friend and turning to drug and alcohol as a coping mechanism. She then gets into what would appear to be her home. We tried to make it obvious that there were possibly people (family) at home, so we directed our actor look up the stairs to appear as if she was trying to see if someone was in. She has a moment of realisation ( this is when she realises that her ex - boyfriend murdered her best friend) and then take a knife from the kitchen draw and walks out of the house ( leaving the front door open to show she has lost all sense of saftey or awareness) and walks out in the dark. this leaves a sort of cliff hanger for the audience to want more.
